THANK YOU!!! - August 22, 2006

Rio Neon would like to thank everyone who came to our CD release party on August 12. It was great seeing familiar faces and meeting some new people. We had a blast! Thank you for coming t the party and giving us your support.

A special thank you goes to Tom Simpson and the Kent Stage. The Kent Stage is a wonderful place to play and we appreciate its support of local musicians. When you go on stage you can feel the “ghosts” of the old vaudeville shows. It’s a tremendous asset to have the Kent Stage in our local community and a great facility for a performance.

We are working hard on learning new material. Who knows? We may think about another CD in the not too distant future!!!!

We hope to see you at an upcoming gig. Please check our website for details.

Thanks again,

Bob, John, Red, Roger and Sally

CD RELEASE PARTY--AUGUST 12 - July 9, 2006

Rio Neon will debut the release of their first CD, Midnight Surprise, on August 12, 2006 at the Kent Stage. The CD release party will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a one-hour concert beginning at 8:00 p.m. Their music has been described as “folkjazz,” combining the best elements of swing, traditional folk music, and jazz. The name and title track of the CD was written by bass player Bob Smith. “I often introduce Midnight Surprise as a coming of age song; however, this song is not about becoming an adult. It’s about certain surprises associated with the passing of time,” said Smith.

Rio Neon has been performing together for about 3½ years. “We have been consistently asked for a CD at our gigs,” said John Reynolds, fiddle/mandolin player and CD engineer. “We felt it was time to do a recording and are excited about the final product.”

Midnight Surprise also features three live recordings which were performed at the Kent Stage in December 2005. The rest of the songs were recorded in the studio during this past winter.

The band will be covering many of the songs on the CD and more. There will be free munchies and the Kent Stage bar will be open for business so you can quench your thirst.
